The Gifted Challenge

HASKELL’S GATE instruction is delivered by trained educators who design programming to meet the academic, social and emotional needs of gifted students. Students are provided the necessary challenge to reach their full potential, which often extends beyond advanced levels of district and state standards.

AT HASKELL, we enhance our STEAM emphasis and uphold the tenants of our mission statement, teachers, parents, and students from Haskell by taking part in The Odyssey of the Mind program. Odyssey of the Mind is a creative competition program in which students take part in collaborative, spontaneous and long-term engineering design and problem-solving projects. In addition to weekly meetings, our two teams, comprised of third, fourth, and fifth grade students, will compete in regional competitions in December and February, with a chance to advance to state and international competitions.

WHAT IS A GIFTED CHILD?

A gifted/talented student is a child or youth who performs at or shows the potential for performing at a remarkably high level of accomplishment when compared to others of the same age, experience, or environment.
